The original synagogue which dated from 1812, thanks to Napoleon Bonaparte to the current one which was built in the 1880’s. Visiting the synagogue might be possible with advance notice. Eminent personalities such as Philippe Rothschild who had to flee from Bordeaux to cross the Pyrenees to get to Portugal and finally join Charles de Gaulle in London. The man who saved thousands of lives by issuing visas to Portugal during WWII. Jewish philanthropists and businessmen of the 19th century.
When: This is a 3 hour tour which is given as a private tour for 1-6 people. This tour can be available most days of the week starting at the time that is most convenient for you.
