Frequently Asked Questions

How do we contact you?

You can reach us via e-mail at, or you can call us at +33 680 44 18 24.  We are the same time zone as Paris which is +1h Greenwich Mean time.

How will we recognize our guide?

At the given meeting point, your guide will be looking around for you and will be holding a Bordeaux Walking Tours notebook.
See the photos of our guides in the "About Us" link.

Where do we meet?

The meeting point for all our tours is centrally-located in downtown Bordeaux, easily accessible by public trams and buses,
by car and foot. The exact location will be communicated to you in the confirmation e-mail.

If you book a private tour, we might change the meeting point based on your location. This will be confirmed via e-mail after
your booking.

Will we go if it is raining or really cold?

Yes we will. So please bring a raincoat and an umbrella if you think you’ll need it, and a scarf, gloves and warm socks if
it’s really cold outside.

What if we have to cancel?

If you cancel your reservation for the Landmarks Tour or the Farmer's Market Tour more than 24 hours in advance, your fee will be refunded in full. If you need to cancel your reservation for the Gourmet Tour or Wine in the City tour,  please cancel five days in advance in order to receive a full refund. A partial refund will be made whenever possible, after tasting fees have been paid.

Sorry, but there will not be any refunds for cancellations less than 24 hours in advance of the reserved walk.

To cancel, please e-mail or call  +33 680 44 18 24.  We are the same time zone as Paris which
is +1h Greenwich Mean time.

How many people will be there?

For the Landmarks Tour, the typical group size is 6 to 8 people for the semi-private tour, and sometimes up to 15 people for the Summer Drop-in tours.  Larger groups please contact us at to discuss how we can
accommodate your group.

For the themed tours, the group size is often 6 to 8 people, with a minimum group size of 4 people.

Can we go on the Gourmet or Wine Tour without paying the tasting fees?

No, I’m sorry to say that you cannot.  Tasting fees are applicable to all members of the tour; individuals within the group cannot opt-out of the tasting fees. This is because of reservations and other associated costs incurred by Bordeaux Walking Tours based
on the number of attendees, regardless of whether they choose not to taste. For those on the Gourmet Tour who prefer
not to taste wine,  juice or other options will be offered.

How far will we walk and is it strenuous?

On the Landmarks Tour, we walk about 3 kms which is the equivalent of 2 miles. We will be walking on paved sidewalks and no hills are involved. Strollers for babies, children, and people who do not walk very much will find this tour to be a leisurely walk.
For the themed walking tours, we walk less than 2 kms total, other than the Wine in the City walking tour, which is about 4 kms total.

Is it cold in the cheese cellars?

YES, it is chilly and we are in the cellars for about 45 minutes.  So, please bring a light jacket or a scarf, even in summer !
